Show behavior and an appreciation of insight and skills basic to effective human relationships are essential to the individual if he is to enjoy satisfactory adjustment in personal and family living. The courses below are recommended: Marriage and the Family, Child Development and Guidance, Child Psychology, Applied Psychology, Basic Nutrition, Food Selection and Preparation, Home Furnishings, Family Guidance, Clothing Selection and Personal Grooming (See Sociology, Psychology, and Family Life Departments for course descriptions.) descriptions.) REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ASSOCIATE IN ARTS AND THE ASSOCIATE IN SCIENCE A candidate for graduation with an Associate in Arts or an Associate in Science must complete a minimum of 93 credits. Students must include in the 93 credits the specific course and area requirements listed under the requirements for a Bachelor's Degree on pages In a division where there is a specific curriculum presented, the curriculum listed substitutes for the general area requiremnts. The titles of Associate in Arts and Associate in Science are designed for students who do not plan to complete a baccalaureate program at Weber College. Associate in Arts Requirements: A candidate for the title of Associate in Arts must include in the required credits a minimum of 15 credits in one foreign language, or two high school units of one foreign language with at least one additional course in the same language completed in college. Three high school units of one and the same language completed in high school satisfies the Associate in Arts requirement. Residence Requirement: A student must have completed a minimum of 30 credits at Weber College for the title of Associate in Arts or Science. He must also be registered at the College during at least one quarter following the last commencement prior to his graduation. A student with special problems and a student who needs specific courses for his major field may satisfy the general education requirements by substituting, as an alternate, courses which are approved by the Division Chairman and the Graduation Committee. REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION 1. Certificate of Completion in a specific major field: The successful completion of a two-year terminal course as outlined in the catalogue and of completion of at least 93 credits. 2. Certificate of Completion in General: English 1, 2, 3 9 credit hours Health Orientation 1 2 credit hours Orientation 1 or 11 2 credit hours General Education Minimum of 20 credit hours Physical Education 3 credit hours The above requirements may be modified by the Dean of Students to meet unusual student needs. REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CERTIFICATE OF PROFICIENCY Completion of at least 45 credits of approved college work, or completion of a one-year curriculum as outlined in the catalogue. Statement of PolicySince this catalog is not to be considered a binding contract between Weber College and any student, the College reserves the right to change its regulations or course offerings as conditions require during the period of any student's attendance. The College may also remove any student from the school at any time if such action appears to be in the best interests of the institution and its patrons. |
