Henrie, Head; Instructor Carmen Reeder Departmental Major in Secretarial TrainingIn addition to the General Education Requirements of the College and the general requirements of the Division of Business and Economics., the student must complete Secretarial Training 3, 13, 21, 25, 30, 101,102, 110, 111, 146, 148, and English 29. Teaching Major in Business EducationIn addition to the General Education Requirements of the College and certain requirements of the Division of Business and Economics Accounting 1 and 2 and Economics 1 and 2the student must complete Secretarial Training 1 or 2 (unless waived), Secretarial Training 3, Secretarial Training 11, 12 (unless waived), ZY\d Secretarial Training 13, 21, 25, 30, 101, 102, 110, 111, 146, 148, 150, 151, 152, and English 29, plus 10 additional hours of approved business electives. Departmental Minor in Secretarial TrainingA baccalaureate degree candidate may satisfy this minor by completing Secretarial Training 21, 101, 102, 110, 111, and 146, plus 4 additional hours selected from the following: Secretarial Training 25, 30, 148 and Accounting 1, 2. Courses of Instruction 1. Elementary Typewriting Development of sustained .typing power, control of figures and symbols, improvement of techniques. A speed of at least 30 words per minute should be attained. May be waived by proficiency examination. Credit will not be given to students who have had one year of typing previously. AWS (3). Favero, Henrie, Reeder 2. Elementary TypewritingReview of keyboard, business letters, tabulated reports, improvement of basic skills, and intensive speed building. A speed of at least 40 words a minute should be attained. Prerequisite: Secretarial Training 1 or equivalent. AWS (3). Favero, Henrie, Reeder 3. Intermediate TypewritingManuscripts, special problems in letter arrangement and business forms. A speed of at last 50 words a minute should be attained. Prerequisite: Secretarial Training 2. AWS (3). Favero, Henrie, Reeder 10. Hi-Speed Longhand (ABC Shorthand)A method of fast writing based on the English alphabet; abbreviations, omission, and blending of letters; dictation and transcription. Prerequisite: Secretarial Training 2 or equivalent. This class continues into Secretarial Training 13. A W S (3). ' Favero, Henrie 11. Elementary Shorthand Introduction to theory of Gregg Shorthand system with emphasis upon reading and writing fluency. Secretarial Training 1 must be taken concurrently unless that course has been waived. Not open for credit to students who have had one year of previous shorthand training. A W (4). Favero, Henrie, Reeder 12. Elementary Shorthand (Continued)Use of the entire shorthand theory in practice dictation. A speed of at least 60 words a minute should be attained.
