THE EVENING SCHOOL Associate Professor Wendell L. Esplin, Director; Assistant Professor Marvin J. Peterson, Coordinator Weber College has offered evening classes for many years. In 1937 the Evening School was officially organized as an integral part of the college and placed under the supervision of a director. It has shown consistent and continuous growth, especially since the end of World War II. Programs of Study The Evening School offers the following programs of study: 1. Academic courses to meet graduation requirements in all divisions of the College; 2. General education courses to enable adults to become better informed; 3. Discussion programs for both on and off the campus groups; 4. Technician and trade preparatory courses leading directly to employment in some of the occupational areas included in the day programs; 5. Trade extension programs for: (1) Journeymen, to provide refresher courses in their chosen occupations, and (2) Apprentices, to provide technical information related to their on-the-job experiences. 6. Hobby and recreational programs to aid adults to obtain leisure time activities and to plan for retirement years. An effort is made to present any course for which there are both a sufficient demand and available facilities. In most cases a minimum of 10 requests for a specific course is considered sufficient for exploratory action on the part of the college. EVENING SCHOOL FACULTY All members of the instructional staff have been selected for their outstanding recent experience in business, industry, and education. Many are employed during the day in responsible positions in their fields of specialization and bring to their classes the benefit of current practical experience. Division of Business and Economics The Division of Business and Economics offers courses in the departments of Accounting, Business, Economics, Business Administration, and Secretarial Training.
