Staff Library Science The Library Science program is organized to fill the needs of school and public librarians. It is also designed to fill the needs of students who wish to become familiar with library facilities. Library Science may be used as a minor (20 hours) by either elementary or secondary teachers. This minor qualifies the student for a Librarian's Certificate issued by the State Department of Public Instruction and prepares him for a position as a school librarian on the elementary or secondary level. Courses required for an Elementary Librarian's Certificate are: English 25 (Children's Literature) or L.S. 130 (Book Selection), L.S. 100, 110, 120, and Education 161 (Instructional Materials and Resources). Courses required for a Secondary Librarian's Certificate are: L.S. 100, 110, 120, 130, and 140. Courses of Instruction 50. Reference and BibliographyLocation and use of major tools of the Library, including dictionaries, encyclopedias, indexes, yearbooks, handbooks, atlases, and biographies. A W S (2). Staff 100.
