Extra-curricular Activity Program Play Production Play production at Weber College is under the administrative guidance of the Division of Humanities and is sponsored directly by the Department of Speech and Drama as Weber College Theatre. The major season of plays consists of a major play presented each quarter of the year under the direction of college staff, but combining the acting talents and services of both college and community people. Currently, during each winter quarter an opera, presented in collaboration with the Department of Music, takes the place of a major winter quarter play. Arena Theatre productions are presented, one each quarter, under the direction of college staff. A varied number of arena-type plays are also presented each year by Tau Alpha Gamma, a Department-sponsored dramatic organization composed of students who have qualified for membership through conspicuous participation in the college dramatic program. Other plays, prepared as an outgrowth of work in directing classes, may also be presented in the Arena Theatre to invited audiences. Also, as a part of the Weber College Theatre program, such productions as the following are encouraged: Plays prepared for tour during the spring quarter and presented (often many times) to school audiences in Ogden and the immediate area; plays prepared for presentation at selected points over the state; summer plays sponsored collaboratively with the Ogden City and Weber County Recreation departments prepared for outdoor production, primarily as youth theatre.
