January 28, 1965 CARD #1 - Page 1 Ladies and Gentlemen, I am pleased indeed to be with you and I am as puzzled as you must be about my appearance on a program otherwise devoted exclusively to chemical and drug companies. The company I represent cannot claim participation in either of these industries, and we can only envy them the exciting things that they are doing and the high favor they find among investors. Perhaps your Program Chairman felt that you needed a change of pace or comic relief. However, I have concluded that Jerry Brush was conferring a kindness on me giving me the opportunity to speak with this carefully selected audience, and I welcome the occasion. Even my place on the program shows a sense of gentleman compassion - right after breakfast and before "contraceptives and fertility" - and for this I am truly thankful, for this would be a tough act to follow. |
