Show 5-14- Citizens Are to Handle Details of Band's Tour OGDEN, May 14.—A committee of citizens will handle details connected with the tour of the Ogden high school band to Fostoria, Ohio, for the inter-scholastic band contests to be held there early in June, according to plans presented to the board of education last night. Since the band tour is be¬ing financed by citizens, it was deemed best by the board to let a representative committee of business men carry on the work. Upon the committee to be named will be representatives from the chamber of commerce, the luncheon clubs and other organizations which have assisted financially in preparing to send the band. The committee will have an early meeting to begin formu¬lating plans. Entry blanks from Fostoria have ar¬rived and are in the hands of W. Karl Hopkins, superintendent of schools, and A. M. Merrill, principal of the high school. According to advices from the Ohio city, every citizen of Fostoria is a member of the commit¬tee to entertain the bands expected from many parts of the country. Financing of the Ogden band's tour is progressing nicely and it is reason¬ably certain that the money needed to defray the expenses of tae band will be raised by May 28, the date of departure. |
