Show May 17 OGDEN TO HAVE LECTURE SERIES Kiwanians Will Bring Visiting Educators to City The Kiwanis club launched Thursday an educational move¬ment regarded as of vast signifi¬cance to Ogden. The club decid¬ed to sponsor the movement to bring to Ogden this summer from eight to twelve of the most prom¬inent educators of America to de¬liver addresses. This movement is made possible by the fact that the Agricultural college of Logan and the University of Utah are bring¬ing these men to the state, and members of the club feel that it is most fitting that Ogden people should profit by their being here. Such men as Shailer Matthews, dean of the University of Chicago divinity school; Dr. Edward How¬ard Griggs, of New York, one of the nation's greatest lecturers; Dr. Edward A. Ross, head of economics department of University of Wisconsin; Dr. McCullum, America's leading authority on dietetics and nutrition, and others equally prominent are among those listed. There is to be no Chautauqua in Ogden this summer, it was re¬ported, and club members feel that Ogden shall nave in this lec¬ture course something infinitely better than anything any Chautau¬qua has ever offered here. Dr. E. P. Mills was credited to having initiated the movement. |
