This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show Sunday, June 15. Clear, cool day. I attend ward priesthood Sunday School and evening meeting. Have not felt too well today. Mother took sleep in afternoon. This is Fathers day. Myrene & Joe gave me straw hat Oertel a nice belt box of cnady from Mary. Cards from Fred Janath and Lynn & Carol and Ralph & Maron. Ralph W Hardy called on phone from Salt Lake. Dr Jr gave us a tree for front lawn. All dear children. Myrene called this PM. Monday, June 16. Nice day but dry SUP Committee meeting tonite. Dr Jr called also Maron & sharon and Clair & children. Recd letter from Ruth Rich. Wrote to Thas Humphreys & Zula Cole. President McKay Dines at Site of Viking Ships. Combined AP and UP. Bygdoey, Norway David O McKay, president of the Latterday Saitns church, dined yesterday at the Queens restaurant in Bygdoey, site of a museum in which viking ships are preserved. One of the crafts on display is the famous Kon tiki raft, which Mormon leaders claim proves the story of an early adventurer, as told in the Book of Mormon. President mcKay who is traveling through Europe visiting missions of the church, said the KonTiki really means something to Mormons. Wednesday, June 18. Warm dry day. Nothing special. I wrote to Mary our daughter Dick has been to three shows and been horseback riding. I went down to Halet to meetign about Pony Express rides. Dr Jr called. |
