During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show Tuesday, July 1. Nice day. Charles R Smart called on us today on his way home from Medical College in Philadelphia. A dear boy. I have been home all day except for a call on Dr J R Morrell. Recd letter from Littie Rich and wrote to Gladys Rich & Lakota Resort. Wednesday, July 2. Nice cool day, I have not done much today. Have read some and wrote three letters. Paid like Insurance policy etc. Nothing special. Call from Dr. Morrell. Thursday, July 3. Nice day. Have had many working in garden all day. Recd letter from Cleone written from Ottawa Canada. Dr Jr & Blanche called this evening also Hugh Deuie & wife. Have read some. Nothing special. 300 in Traffic Tribune 52. Violent Death Takes 500 Over Holiday By The Associated Press. More than 500 persons died violently nearly 300 in traffic accidents as the Fourth of July week end faded into its closing hours. The highway toll was 290. There were 158 drownings, two deaths from fireworks accidents, and 56 miscellaneous holiday fatalities, for a toll of 506. The National Safety Council had predicted 430 traffic deaths alone during the week end from 6 PM local time thursday to midnight Sunday. |
