McGranery, Attorney General designate, said yesterday that he would weed out and fire every incompetent, disloyal or dishonest employe he finds in the Department of Justice. He also promised to expose and prosecute corruption whereever he finds it, and so restore the faith of the people in their Government.McGranery, 56 year old Philadelphia jurist, who was chosen for Attorney General by President Truman the same day that J. Howard McGrath was fired from that post, testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee. The committee has been delaying action on his nomination for more than a. month.Senator William E. Jenner sought to learn from McGranery what his attitude would be in the future if, as Attorney General, he had to advise the President on a matter like the seizure of the steel industry.McGranery would not express an opinion on the steel case, pointing out that it was now before the Supreme Court.Senator Jenner said he was not willing to vote to confirm McGranery's nomination until he knew what his attitude was on Government seizure of private property.
