Show GOOD SHARE OF AWARDS TAKEN BY NORTH UTAH Fine Showings Are Made In Music Festival In Provo Northern Utah high school musi¬cians came in for their share of honors in the opening events of the annual Utah state band contest and music festival being held at Brig- ham Young university in Provo. Eight thousand young musicians gathered there for three-day activi¬ties which will close Saturday night with a band concert in which more than 60 organizations will take part. SEVERAL GRADINGS Awards made Thursday were on a basis of highly superior, superior, excellent, good and average, accord¬ing to an Associated Press dispatch. The ratings included: Bassoon: Ella Pace, North Sum¬mit, superior; Wayne Johnson, Box Elder, excellent. French horn solos: Blaine Olsen, Box Elder, highly superior; Veda Toone, Morgan, superior; Ross Glasmann, Ogden, excellent; Delia Ran¬dall, North Summit, excellent; Lee Copen, Logan, excellent. Mixed quartet: Ogden and Box Elder, excellent. Woodwind ensemble: Morgan, highly superior; Logan and North Summit, superior; Logan, excellent. Boys' quartet: Ogden and Logan, superior; Davis and North Summit, excellent; Box Elder, good. Piano: Ogden, Logan and Box Elder, highly superior; Morgan and South Summit, superior.
