Show tory work furnished by the Guidance Office and the Registrar's Office. Students who participate in inter-school athletics are governed by the regulations of the National Athletic Intercollegiate Association. Student LiabilityWeber College is not in any way liable for an athlete's injuries or illnesses that result from participation in the activities sponsored by the College. It is assumed that one who engages in athletics has received permission from parent or guardian and has accepted full responsibility. The College is not in any way liable for student injuries which may result from activities on the field trips or in shop or laboratory class work. Students are required to request specific operational information before proceeding with the use of equipment. Graduation Weber College grants the degrees of Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and the titles of Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, a Certificate of Completion, and a Certificate of Proficiency. For a student to be admitted to candidacy for any degree or title, his scholastic record must show that he has satisfied the entrance requirements and that he can fulfill the requirements for graduation upon the completion of the courses for which he has registered. No credit obtained prior to the time his college standing was established may be used toward graduation. The Graduation Committee may make exceptions in individual cases. Grade Requirements A student's scholastic record must show that he has an average of not less than C, an average grade point of at least 2.0 in all his registered work. Residence Requirement A candidate for any degree or title must be registered at the College during at least one quarter following the last commencement prior to his graduation. Change in Graduation RequirementsA candidate is held to the requirements applicable to the class with which he is graduated. Removal of IncompletesAll "incompletes" must be removed at least four weeks prior to graduation. Application for GraduationA candidate must file a written application obtained at the Registrar's Office and should file it in that office not later than the sixth week of the Autumn Quarter. No applications will be considered within the last few weeks before commencement unless special permission is given by the Registrar. A candidate is required to be present at Commencement Exercises. Any exceptions are made by the President of the College. Honors at GraduationA candidate whose average grade point in all registered work is 3.5 or above is graduated with honors. His name will appear in the commencement program. Honors for commencement are determined during the Spring Quarter and do not reflect final grades for that quarter. Payment of FeesThe student must have cleared all college financial obligations. REQUIREMENTS FOR BACHELOR OF ARTS AND BACHELOR OF SCIENCE DEGREES Minimum RequirementsA candidate for graduation with a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science Degree must have completed a minimum of 183 credits. Upper Division RequirementA minimum of 60 credits of upper division work. Major RequirementsA major in any one department will consist of not fewer than 40 and not more than 60 credits in the major field. Minor RequirementsA minor consists of not fewer than 20 credits. Courses used to satisfy the requirements in area studies as outlined under Area Requirements cannot be counted as part of the minimum number of hours needed for the major or minor requirements. Residence RequirementA candidate for graduation must have a minimum of 45 credits in residence at Weber College and be registered at the College during at least one quarter following the last commencement prior to his graduation. Division Requirements Further information concerning specific courses will be provided under the discussion of division requirements and instructions. Candidates for graduation in the Division of Education must meet the minimum requirements as outlined by the Utah State Board of Education for certification of elementary and secondary teachers. Laboratory RequirementsTwo quarter hours of laboratory work to be completed in the Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, or both. Bachelor of Arts RequirementA candidate for a Bachelor of Arts degree must complete 25 credits, or the equivalent, in one approved foreign language.
