Show Feb 17 1952. The worlds not so big! (who would ever dream of running on to old friends from Honolulu at Death Valley?) thats just what Dr. and Mrs. Junior Edward Rich did on their recent vacation trip. They went in the dining room of the Furnace Creek Inn to have breakfast and there sat Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kay A highlight they visited Death Valley Scottys Castle and met the owner himself. The story goes that the 79 year old man always wanted a castle and one day a very rich man from Chicago built one for him in the heart of the Death Valley desert and gave it to him. He is considered quite a character by those who converse with him. The Riches also spent some time at Las Vegas and on their way home stopped at the south rim of Grand canyon, El Tovar, Colo They were away two weeks. Sunday, February 17. Snowed last nite about 4 inches and has been snowing practically all day. We Taylor Peery & David Peery his son and I went to Sunday School. After dinner Taylor & David went to Salt Lake. Taylor left for home in Palo Alto at 6 pm via air and David went back to his school in Provo. We had nice visit with them. We did not go to church this evening stormy. Oertel is feeling better but she has been in bed all day. Off to where news is popping in every direction Washington, DC will be Mrs. Joseph W Brewer, Monday. She will have with her, her grandson, Jackie, whom she will take to his mother, Mrs. Jay Glasmann. Jackie has been with his grandparents since the recent marriage of Mr and Mrs Glasmann. Besides the Glasmanns, Mrs. Brewer plans to visit her brother, Col Thair Rich and family, her nephews and nices, Mr and Mrs Ralph Hardy at Washington, and Mr and Mrs Marvin Lewis and Charles Smart at Philadelphia, Pa. During her stay in the east, she also will spend some time in New York and St. Louis, Mo. Recd letters from Mary and Avon dear letters both of them. Tuesday, February 19. Have been reading most of day. Snowed a little this evening. A cold day. Nothing special. |
