By Scope of Decision DataNew York Times ServiceWASHINGTON, Nov. 21President Harry S Truman said Friday that Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower was rather appalled in their Tuesday conference at the scope of information a president needs in order to make his daily decisions. The president must know exactly the implications of his acts for as many millions of people, said Mr. Truman, and it is a tremendous responsibility. He expressed these views in a meeting of government officials and employes taking a training course given by the Central Intelligence Agency.I dont think anyone realizes the immensity of the problems that face a President of the United States, said Mr. Trumanin his impromptu talk. It was my privilege a few days ago to brief the general who is going to take over the office on the 20th of January, and he was rather appalled at all that the President needs to know in order to reach decisions even domestic decisions.Mr. Truman went on to say that the office of President of the United States now carries power beyond parallel in history more power than was exerted by Genghis Khan, Augustus Caesar, Napoleon Bonaparte Louis XIV, or any other. That is the principal reason, the President continued, why am so anxious that it be a continuing proposition, and that my successor can carry on as if no election had taken place.Ogden Standard ExaminerEntered at the post office at Ogden, Utah, as second class matter according to Act of Congress, March 8, 1879.
