During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show Vicar Speaks; Pews Vacant. Tribune 1952. London, Dec 28. Eighteen years ago the vicar in the village of Warleggan in Cornwall and his parishoners quarreled because he would not let htem use the rectory for a card game tournament. Last christmas morning the vicar conducted the strangest Christmas Day church service in all England. The Rev Frederick W Densham attired in surplice and cassock, mounted the pulpit of his little granite church, recited the Church of England service, sang the prescribed hymns, read the Christmas lesson and preached on the charity of the season. But he was all alone in his church, as he has been for the past 18 years, boycotted by the 160 odd men, women and children of his hamlet on the Bodin Moors. After the quarrel over the card game tournament, there was a general bishops inquiry which exonerated the vicar. As long as he obeys the church laws and holds hi regular services he cannot be forced to quit. And, he added, they all come to me in the end. I conduct all their funerals. |
