Accidents Cost 220,885 in Ogden Last Year. The 775 traffic accidents investigated by Ogden police last year represented an estimated 220,885 in property damage, Traffic Sgt LeRoy G Bennett said in his annual report today. This was figured on the basis of 282 per accident. Some mishaps ran as high as 3000 in damages, others as low as 25. the statistics showed. A notable trend of last year was that while there were fewer reported accidents, there were more drivers arrested. Four Dead 238 Injured. The 775 accidents last year claimed four lives and injured 238 persons and resulted in arrest of 478 drivers. During 1950, two were killed, 267 injured and 360 drivers arrested. Most frequent causes of accidents last year, Sgt Bennett said, were drunken driving and careless driving, each with 52 arrests. Other arrests growing out of traffic accidents were 48 of failure ot yield right of way; 13 each for red semaphore light violation and hitrun driving; six for speeding and three for reckless driving. Last years traffic report showed also that. Period of highest accident frequency was five to six pm, when 64 happened; next worst period was between six and seven pm, with 62 accidents; four to five pm, with 54 accidents, and seven to eight pm, with 52. Fewest Between Four and Five Fewest accidents happened between four and five am, with five cases reported. Involved in last years accidents were 1205 male drivers, 190 female drivers; also 36 juveniles 16 years of age and under. Of the injured, 148 were autoists, 63 pedestrians, 17 bicycles riders. There were no sled accidents involved in traffic mishaps for 1950 or 1951, the report disclosed.
