Programs are directed toward students who are 25 and older, who have children, or who are married. • Hourly Childcare center • Activities for families and children • Activities for adults • Parenting workshops • Successful student workshops • Nontraditional student area council • Pinnacle Honor Society • Peer mentor assistance program • Study and meeting room with kitchen Upward Bound Telephone: 801-626-6798 Location: Annex 10 Website: weber.edu/upwardbound About Upward Bound Program • Funded by federal grants to help low-income/first generation high school students from Davis and Weber counties prepare for higher education • Designed to provide a pre-college educational experience for selected high school students in Davis and Weber Counties • Students must meet the federal guidelines set by the Department of Education in order to participate • Serve approximately 75 students annually from five area high schools: Ben Lomond, Ogden, Clearfield, Layton and Northridge • Program purpose is to increase the number of non-traditional students who enter and graduate from college Academic Year Programming • Tutorial instruction in literature, composition, foreign languages, mathematics, history, computer enhancement training and general science courses in an after schoolsetting at the five target high schools • Saturday morning study hall • Individual counseling for students with personal or academic concerns • Monthly social, cultural and recreational activities • ACT preparation Six Week Summer Residential Program • Upward Bound offers a summer academic enhancement program held on the campus of Weber State University • Students live in the residence halls, attend enrichment classes and participate in social, cultural and recreational activities Services for Veteran Students Telephone: 801-626-6039 Location: Miller Administration, Room 103 Website: weber. e du/ve taffairs Services for Veteran Students is the liaison between Weber State University and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for educational benefits for veterans and dependents who are eligible for the G.I. Bill. In addition, Services for Veteran Students provides a variety of support services to assist in making education a successful experience for veterans.
