Show February 6, 1963 REMARKS FOR CHANDLER CONFERENCE THANK YOU, John. At the outset I know that I speak for all those assembled here when I express to you a very genuine sense of regret that all of us feel concerning the news of your retirement at the end of this Conference Board year. The tremendous progress that the Conference Board has made under your leadership is convincing testimony of the great contribution that you have made to this organization and to the wide constituency that it serves. We shall miss you both as an esteemed business leader and as a warm friend that we hold in deep affection. At the same time we welcome Mr. Bruce Palmer, who has been chosen to follow in your footsteps. We are looking forward to the pleasure of working with him over the years ahead and from what we have seen here and from what we know about him personally we have every reason to believe that he will give a very good account of himself indeed. To you, Bruce, our every good wish in the important assignment that you have undertaken. To you who have participated in this Conference I as your Chairman would like to express my personal appreciation to each of you for your cooperation, your patience, and your understanding. You have made the role of the Chairman a pleasure as well as a privilege, and I am most grateful to you. The speakers that have preceded me have performed admirably and have covered many of the fields of our national economy.
