the civilian demand for uranium would be insignificant for years to come and that the government would have to sustain the uranium industry as a charity patient for a considerable period of time after the AEC contracts expired. However, the development and sale of competitive nuclear reactors has grown with such rapidity that all this is changed and we now foresee the previously indicated surplus of uranium in the 70's displaced by the probability of a uranium shortage during that period. Therefore we have revised our thoughts about the quantity of uranium that we can sell and the price that we will receive for it sharply upward for the decade beginning in 197 0 and now we are confident that uranium will continue to be a source of attractive mining profits for us in the years ahead. REPRISE Let me close with a quotation which, cribbing liberally from Disraeli, Bernard Shaw put in the mouth of a character in one of his plays, who said: "The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, make them."
