It has good connections East, the proprietors are individually men of means, and generally accomplish what they undertake. Their city and country trade is large and increasing. James Allen is well and favorably known in Ogden and through¬out northern Utah. He keeps a large stock of assorted merchandise, and his terms are always reasonable; he has excellent assistance in the way of competent and obliging salesmen. W. G. Child is one of the heaviest dealers in the country. His stock is very full and complete in all the various details of a mer¬cantile house, and it is invariably kept up. He does an excellent business. W. Foulger is a young and enterprising merchant, who has ob¬tained an excellent standing among commercial men and the public generally, by strict attention to business. He keeps a good stock, and his sales are constantly increasing. Pidcock & Sons, in the new brick block on the East side of Main Street, are well located and do a flourishing business, both in city and country trade. Horrocks & Baxter have a general stock on the west side of Main Street. Samuel Horrocks, the senior partner, is an old and well- known citizen. He has an excellent and well merited reputation for square dealing; the firm are prosperous and go-ahead merchants. W. H. Wright & Son, two doors south of the Co-op, Main St., do a good business in general and family supplies. Mr. Wright has had an extensive experience, both as salesman and merchant; the firm keep a first-class stock of well-assorted dry goods, groceries, etc., always on hand. Geo. H.
