It was first settled in 1861. Like many other places it has been wrested from the occupancy of the sage brush and greasewood, which have given place to smiling fields and pleasant orchards, whose annual productions now reward the people for the years of industry and hard labor they have spent upon the land to rescue it from its former sterility. It produces some of the finest apples, pears and strawberries raised in the country. They have a school in session, well filled by willing scholars instructed by an efficient teacher. John I. Hart, Bishop. MARRIOTT'S Was settled by a small colony, mostly English agriculturists, who, by their honest industry, have made themselves comfortable homes. They sow and cultivate good farms and gardens, and possess a con-siderable number of stock and sheep. They are frugal, economical and steady in their habits. They raise all they need and have a sur¬plus for market. The place was first settled in 1861. Population about 200. James Richie, Bishop. PLAIN CITY Is located ten miles northwest of Ogden and was first settled in 1859 by a company of hardy and determined people, most of whom removed there from Lehi, in Utah Co. It cost them many hardships to sub¬due and redeem the land from its then barren and sterile condition. It required several miles of canal to be built to furnish water for ir¬rigation, but by their perseverance and industry they have built up a beautiful city of the plains. They have numerous well cultivated fields, farms, gardens and orchards, which yield, besides grain and hay, some of the richest varieties of vegetables and fruits in quality No. 1 Cigars at Schlesinger & Co's. 67 COAL.
