Uintah is the first settlement in Salt Lake Valley that meets the eye of the traveler coming from the East; it is situated on the north side of the Weber river, and in the summer season presents a beautiful appearance to the traveler, on account of its beau¬tiful orchards and well laid out and highly cultivated gardens, quite a number of the inhabitants sustaining their families by raising garden produce, for which there is a great demand to supply the several railroad towns east of this station. Uintah is also plentiful¬ly supplied with water, perhaps in this respect superior to any other town in Utah. There is one large mountain stream with several smaller ones; also two canals from the Weber river. Uintah is con¬sidered a very healthy settlement and is very desirable for resi¬dences, but building sites are very high in price. The town has two Stores, a post office and three grain and produce shipping houses, namely: Charles De la Baume, Corey Bros., and Samuel Dye. The present Ecclesiastical Officials are as follows: Bishop, Ira N. Spaulding; Assistants, Samuel Dye, Robert Gale; Peace Officers; Justice of the Peace, George L.
