SCOTS 44 ST2V% THORSTEL Representing the Scots as Student Body President for Ben Lomond next year is Steve Thorsted, Steve is a 4.0 student and a very outgoing Scot. His favorite teachers are Mr. Hawkes and Mr. Hatch. » ‘When asked how he felt when he heard his name announced Steve replied, "very relieved, excited, and humble."" He added that "the elections were fun but I was also afraid". Steve would like to see more involvement in the activities and a general strengthening of school spirit. He wauld like to make school more interesting as a whole. "The coming year will be the greatest Ben Lomond “will ever see IF the stu-~ dents want it that way , "W Steve stated. mvt LN RARNIZY BARNISY Tom Barney will serve as Student-Body Vice-President for the school year 73-74. Tom is a 4.0 student and secretary of the fighting Scots. "Excited" was the feeling Tom had when he _ heard he had been elected. He was left somewhat speechless. Tom feels next year will be a “better year",and school should be more interesting. He thinks the students should get more involved and support their officers too. Tom would like to thank those who helped in his campaign and hopes. they will continue to give them their support all throughout the next year. VICKT#® LAYNi Serving along with the other newly elected of ficers as Student Body Secretary is Vickie Layne, Vickie has held the office of Sophomore Class Secretary and now serves as Inter Clan Secretary. The office of Secretary was tied with each candidate receiving 432 votes, therefore a second election was held, When asked how she felt after being elected to her office, Vickie stated, "I was so relieved and scared." She feels we will have a great and fun year coming next year and hopes to see everyone get involved and participate in the activities. Vickie would like to express her thanks to all the people who voted for her, GIRLS This Staters Sherrie (in both elections) and is ready to work her hardest for such a great’ student body like Ben Lomond's. LINDA Chosen to GAORGE lead our Stu- dent Body as Historian the school year for Chosen to lead our Student Body as Historian for the school year 73-74 is Linda George. Linda Association serves as Secretary Girls this §S TATERS years Girl's are Becky Deherrera, Adams, and Vickie Layne. State is sponGirl's the American Lesored by gion Auxiliary and it's purpose is to acquaint the girls with political function such as city, state, and national elections. Girls State is held at Southern Utah State College where for one week their function is to operate like a state. They have city, county, and state elections. The girls who are elected to state offices return the following year to officiate over Girl's State. chosen on The girls are of many things basis such as school support and involvement, personality, and knowledge of Government -the affairs. Hood Luck HM. HN. year and maintains a 3.7 grade point average. Her main goal for office is to make people proud of Ben Lomond and really ,stand up for the school. Linda feels next year is going to be a great year and something to remember. After the excitement of her election (on Friday the 13th, incidentally), she really "banged up". She was involved in a car accident a few hours after school. Linda is recovering quite well now, but has decided to refrain from driving for a while. Linda would like to thank all those who = supported her campaign and especially her close friend Vickie Fisher. want to be on SIARF? Any person wishing to be a member of next year's Highlander staff ean submit: an application to either April Brough or Mr. Hull. Applications will be available through them. Students wishing to be on the staff need not have any extraordinary talent. An Editor will be chosen from those that apply. You need not be a Senior next year to be chosen Editor. We encourage everyone inter- ested in making next year's Highlander the best paper in the state, to submit their application by May 11. |
