Student housing payments, event tickets, campus maps, vending and locker refunds, and lost and found items are among the many additional services provided. The primary goal is to encourage and help students in the development of their potential as independent learners. SKILLS ENHANCEMENT CENTER Location: Annex 12 Telephone: 626-7941 Site Manger: Maxine Curtis The Skills Enhancement Center provides one-on-one tutoring and support for all students enrolled in the developmental program for English 096 and Math 095/096 classes. The Center also offers a computer lab for students’ use and assistance with basic computer skills. The instruction is free of charge, with no appointment necessary. Tutors are available Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:30. STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES (SSS) Location: evaluation of basic skills, 2) Basic skills instruction, 3) One-on-one tutoring for most academic courses, 4) Learning skills development, 5) Quantitative Literacy workshops, self-esteem and motivational workshops, speed reading workshops, and basic keyboarding. SUPPLEMENTAL INSTRUCTION The computer lab in Building II has 33 Windows 3.0 stations, Windows 95 stations, a laserjet printer and scanner. Tests are also administered for various academic departments on campus and for Independent Study courses. Students may participate in learning teams where they explore concepts and solve problems through group discussion and interaction as directed by a student team leader who has successfully completed the course.
