Show 20 zl Moving from the General College Tier to the University e Pass the Math Placement test (available at the WSU Testing Center) with a score high enough to be placed in Math QL1030, Tier Students who enter at the General College tier will be notified and automatically advanced to the University tier upon completion of all of the following: ¢ Quantitative Literacy which is met by achieving one of the following: 1. A score of 65 or greater on the COMPASS college algebra exam. 2. A grade of 2.0 or better in Math QL1050 or Math QL1080 or any mathematics course having either course as a prerequisite. 3. A grade of 2.0 or better in Math QL1030 or Math QL1040. ¢ English competency which is met by achieving a grade of 2.0 or better in English EN1010 and English EN1020. ¢ Successful completion of 20 semester credit hours of course work with a cumulative GPA of 2.25 or better. English and Math Placement All students will be placed into English and math courses according to their ACT, SAT or placement test scores. In order to take college-level English and math courses (English courses numbered 1010 and higher and Math courses numbered 1030 or higher), a student must first: ¢ Pass English ND0960, Developmental Writing, with a grade of “C” (2.00) or above; or ¢ Pass the English Placement test (available at the WSU Testing Center); or e Achieve a score of 17 or above on the enhanced ACT English test. and e Pass Math 1010, Intermediate Algebra, with a grade of “C” (2.00) or above; or e Achieve a score of 23 or above on the enhanced ACT Math QL1040, Math QL1050 or Math QL1080 or higher. Developmental Course Fee Students requiring developmental work (courses numbered under 1000 and Math 1010) will be charged an additional fee for each semester until they have met the English and math requirements outlined in the preceding section. As soon as a student meets these requirements, the developmental fee will be removed. Applicants Without High School Diplomas (current high school students are not eligible) Applicants who are not high school graduates must present evidence of high school equivalency to be considered for admission. High school equivalency may be satisfied in one of the following ways: ¢ Passing the General Education Development test (GED) with an overall score of 45 or above with no individual score below 40. Applicants who satisfy high school equivalency via the GED must also submit ACT/SAT or Basic Skills placement test results. ¢ Passing the American College Test (ACT ) with a composite score of 20 or above (SAT score of 840 or above). Admission Appeal Senior Citizen Location: Process Residency The Admissions Office classifies all applicants as either resident or non-resident. Applicants whose credentials indicate out-of-state status are classified as non-residents. If there is doubt concerning resident status, an applicant is classified as a non-resident. Non-residents who have reason to believe they can qualify for resident status should file a residency application with the Admissions Office before registering. The deadline for residency application is the Friday prior to the start of school each semester. Students accepted for the Summer Enrichment Program are allowed to carry a full academic schedule, but are advised not to register for courses which will be duplicated during their senior year of high school. Senior citizens will be required to complete an application for admission and register at the Registration Office on or after the first day of class. Where applicable, senior citizens will be charged a fee for use of consumable materials. Unless otherwise specified, all scholarships are for one year and are not renewable. Students must apply each consecutive year for consideration. Applications for scholarships need to be submitted by Februrary 1. seniors an opportunity to participate in the college environ- ment while continuing their high school courses and activities. Students can earn up to a full year of college credit while completing high school graduation requirements. The Early College program is designed for students who are seeking additional challenges and academic enrichment. First Year Location: Telephone: Experience Student Service Center, Room 219 626-6081 STATE UNIVERSITY WEBER STATE Requirements All scholarship applicants must complete the following basic requirements by February 1 for the following academic year. ¢ Apply for admission and provide all required documentation, including ACT scores, verified high school GPA, transfer work, etc. Note: Test scores for ACT tests taken after December may not arrive in time to meet the processing deadline. ¢ Submit a scholarship application to the Scholarship Office. Academic The First-Year Experience (FYE) Program is designed to produce a common set of experiences for first-year students which create a greater sense of campus community and student involvement, and increased student academic performance and retention. The FirstYear Experience Program is further explained under the Interdisciplinary Programs section of this catalog. WEBER Application Awarding Categories New Freshmen Scholarships include Presidential Awards (a minimum of 4 years of tuition waiver); Merit-at Entrance, Sterling Scholar, Governor’s Excellence in Vocational/Applied Technology, and National Merit.
