Show ACADEMIC INFORMATION Admissions REQUIREMENTS How to QualifyA prospective student may qualify for admission to Weber State College in any one of the following ways: 1. Present an official transcript of his high school record showing that he has graduated from an approved high school. 2. Complete 15 high school units in subjects recognized by the college. A maximum of two units in music and one in physical education and military training combined may be included in the 15. Less than one-half unit in any subject is not accepted. Twelve of the 15 units must have been earned in the second, third, and fourth years of the high school course. 3. Pass the high school level General Educational Development Tests with scores specified by the college. An applicant must be 18 years of age or over before he is eligible to take these tests. A student with this classification who has attended a high school within one year preceding the time of application for admission to Weber State College must submit a written recommendation from the high school principal. 4. A person 21 years of age or over who has not completed a full high school course may be admitted if in the judgment of the Admissions Committee his preparation is adequate. If such a student plans to graduate from Weber State College, he must meet the college entrance requirements. Credit earned prior to the satisfying of general entrance requirements may not be considered college credit. 5. A student not satisfying any one of the above requirements may be admitted by the Admissions Committee to approved vocational courses. 6. To be admitted to Weber State College, a student must possess a good moral character. Full MatriculationIn order to be fully matriculated as a regular student, an applicant must present three units of high school English. If an applicant plans to major in any specific division, he should present for entrance specific subjects required by that division. In the fields of engineering, mathematics and physical sciences, a student must present, in addition to the English, one and one-half units of algebra, one unit of plane geometry, and one unit of science. In engineering, one-half unit of trigonometry is also required. In the Life Science Division, one unit of high school algebra is required. In the Division of Technical Education, the programs leading toward a bachelor's degree require one unit of algebra. If a student 31 |
