Show Weber Sentinel, April 2004 Marriott-Slaterville City Council Report for April, 2004 By Joyce VanTassell Planning Commission considers Frank Blair property issue Marriott-Slaterville's planning commission considered the proposal to change the zoning for Frank Blair's property back to a point to which all parties could agree, the zoning approved by Weber County commissioners in 1990. After hearing from Blair's attorney, Mark Arnold, and a concerned neighbor, James Blair, the council discussed the issue. The planning commission voted unanimously to revert to the plan and zoning agreement reached in 1990, with the stipulation that Frank Blair would adhere to all applicable documents and covenants from the 1990 Weber County decision. City Council considers rejected Quail Meadows subdivision After approving several business licenses, the council considered the Quail Meadows subdivision. This subdivision had previously been denied approval by the planning commission and was then sent to the city council for consideration. Ken Holman, representing the Quail Meadows development, addressed the concerns the commission had, which included separating the storm water detention basin from the secondary water system, and the proposed sewer system. Ken Winder of Delco Western explained the grinder pump system that would be one option for sewer systems for the development, with each homeowner being responsible for their own system. Another proposal was for the homeowners to be part of a homeowner's association, which would own and maintain a sewer lift station for the subdivision. Discussion about the pros and cons of these two systems followed. Council President Dennis Ilium acknowledged the work done by Holman and his company as well as the planning commission and the Marriott-Slaterville staff to work out the details for this proposed subdivision, which would be the largest ever put in since Marriott-Slaterville incorporated. After discussion, the council voted to send the proposed subdivision back to the planning commission with recommendations that they work with the owners and their representative, Holman, and staff to resolve the issues of drainage, sewer systems and water retention. Power goes out in N. Utah again WILLARD The power went out again for Top of Utah residents. This time wind and rain were equally to blame. At 10:09 p.m., 1055 customers lost power in Willard, Ogden, Layton and Marriott-Slaterville, said Utah Power spokeswoman Margaret Kesler. Some wires came down, and some poles were burned, something she said is typical when wind and rain attack together. When rain washes dirt and other contaminants into the insulation that normally keeps wires from touching poles, the water acts as a bridge. The energy crosses through the water, and a fire and outage result, Kesler said. In the Dark, April 7, 2004 GRADE 12 Amy Allen, Meghan L. Allen, Laura L. Ammer, Lindsay J.
