Show In another matter discussed, approval was given to a compromise agreement between the city engineer and Frank Blair for the road location and alignment on 400 North near I-15 for Mr. Blair's commercial project. Approval of the agreement was recommended by the planning commission previously. At the last council meeting Deborah Mecham, from consolidated dispatch, asked for a resolution giving or rejecting support for creation of the Weber Area Dispatch 911 and Emergency Services District. Concern was expressed about county wide property tax for this service, as well as adminstration of the district. Resolution 2004-J, relating to consolidated dispatch with two options: (1) allows each city to have one vote, and (2) allows the sheriff to have one vote for each city he serves by contract, was approved by majority. Resolution 2004-L, authorizing the payment by the State Treasurer of funds received from the monthly surcharge for 9-1-1 emergency telephone services, directly to the Weber Area Consolidated Dispatch, was also approved. The monthly surcharge for the Statewide Unified 911 services has been raised from a maximum of 53 cents to 65 cents per month following action by the past legislative session allowing the increase. This matter, including the fact that cities were not advised of this raise, was also discussed, and Resolution 2004-K approving the action was passed. The Weber Sentinel reporter at the meeting apologized for incorrectly stating, in the last issue, that the city imposes a property tax. A retraction will be in the next issue. A new Weber Fire District Station will be located in Farr West next to Westwood Village. The Bona Vista Water offices will also relocate to that facility. The annual Christmas party will be held after the council meeting next month. Mayor Keith Butler's Great Duck Mystery was solved on November 23, 2004, when two young women, Cammie and Darae Youngberg, confessed to the ducknapping. They were going on a family trip to Washington D. C. and decided that taking the duck along would enliven the trip. They were not personally acquainted with the Mayor, and the fact that the Weber County Sheriff lived nearby only added excitement to the "crime." Then the plans grew and grew as the duck mysteriously tookother trips. They sewed all of "Lola's costumes, took pictures, wrote innumerable postcards, made voluminous photo albums, and "married" her to "Elvis" during an elopement to Las Vegas. Mayor Butler brought the famous duck, her albums and costumes, to the city office as the sisters were interviewed by a reporter Peter Rosin from Channel 2. They told of the midnight forays into the Mayor's yard on the various ducknapping occurrences, dressed in black, hiding behind hedges when a car went by. It had been great fun, but now that the duck was a married fowl, with children, the time of confession had come. Thank you Cammie and Darae for all the fun you have given us as the story has unfolded. Bits and Pieces Shaylan Mae Wyman, daughter of Chris and Stephanie Wyman, was born November 8, 2004.
