His plan to have a water ski pond has been postponed. The commission also discussed the River Cove Nature Park, which would be located at about 1170 W. 1700 S. The site plan was tabled until neighbors' concerns were addressed concerning the five-acre park, which would be used for hiking or other similar activities, but not for organized sports. City Council narrowly approves Quail Meadows Marriott-Slaterville's city council met and listened to Kirk Bailey present a proposed sales tax initiative in Weber County to fund arts and recreation projects. R.A.M.P. (Recreation, Arts, Museums and Parks), as the proposed tax is called, would be a one-tenth of 1 percent increase, which would result in about $3 million a year being raised. This would fund county and town recreational and fine arts projects. Budgets for the current year and the next fiscal year were approved. Mayor Keith Butler said that planning for next year's budget was like looking in a crystal ball, and said, "This is the best we can predict." Final approval, with conditions, was narrowly given to the Quail Meadows Subdivision, with council members Rob Smout, Kim Slater and President Dennis Ilium voting aye, and Delbert Hodson and Scott VanLeeuwen voting nay. 43 |
