I mentioned that with the mayor serving on the Central Weber Sewer Improvement District board of trustees, revisions by the attorney seem to be promoted. The mayor of Ogden, Weber County Commissioner Ken Bischoff and Ogden City Councilman Rick Safsten commended the attorney's revisions because it prevents any unethical comments or illogical conclusions from ever getting into public meeting minutes. The district's meeting minutes are little more than the attorney's creation. As a result, they do not reflect what has been videotaped by citizens attending the meetings. It has been amazing to watch Weber County mayors and three city councilmen all bow down to the county commissioners, the Ogden mayor and the Ogden City Council chairman. The Marriott/Slaterville mayor sits on the Sewer Board, but only as an ex-officio member who cannot vote on any issue. The sewer plant is located in Marriott/Slaterville, so why doesn't he have a voice on the board? State legislators tell us that all legislative meetings are recorded. So, why do local city, county and service districts believe they have the discretion to tape record meetings? I have personally attended meetings wherein the current speaker of the House was requested to do something about the shortcomings of Utah's Open Meeting Act, and also the problems in the Government Records Access Management Act. The speaker, also the representative for my district, failed to answer my phone calls and has done nothing to improve open meetings and government records. Robert Larsen Ogden July 14, 2004 Man seriously injured in crash MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE A West Valley man was in critical condition after being partially ejected from his car Tuesday morning. Oscar Becerril, 25, was headed north on Interstate 15 when he drifted off the roadway toward the median at about 7:10 a.m., said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Don Sagendorf. He wasn't wearing a seat belt. Becerril appears to have overcorrected, sending the 2000 Ford Taurus rolling into the median and coming to rest upside down with Becerril hanging out. Becerril suffered a head injury, severe internal injuries and was bleeding internally, as well. There wasn't an update on Becerril's condition available.
