Show Marriott-Slaterville City History August 2018 Elijah Brandley presented three new brochures he developed for City use: New Resident Guide, New Business Guide and the Outdoor Lighting & the Dark Sky Ordinance. Council members voted unanimously to change the name of the "Marriott-Slaterville City Community Development and Renewal Agency" to the "Marriott-Slaterville City Community Reinvestment Agency". This change came about due to a mandate from the Utah State Legislature. Council unanimously approved passage of Ordinance 2018-06 Dark Sky Ordinance. However, there was some discussion about the changes listed in the Ordinance and it may be reviewed again within the next six months. Council reviewed the recent 4^^ of July celebration, discussing concerns and suggestions for next year. The upcoming Youth City Council Chili Cook-off in September and Trunk-or-Treat were also discussed. The phone system in the City Offices no longer works so we are in the process of acquiring a new one. West Haven, Washington Terrace and Marriott-Slaterville City are evaluating the possibility of establishing a unified police department. They will be meeting with Ryan Arbon, the incoming sheriff-elect to discuss ideas to help decrease the cost of law enforcement. Trent mentioned that chip sealing has been completed on 2800 W and 700 S, using a different chip which should last longer. Mr. Hodson said mosquitoes carrying the West Nile Virus have been found in Weber County. Residents can call Mosquito Abatement any time and request that they spray in their area. Mr. Hodson also brought up the issue of noise pollution from an exhaust fan located at the Honeyville warehouse at BDO which affects nearby residents. He contacted Blake Wahlen and Mr. Wahlen said he has a plan he is working on to mitigate this problem. Mr. Hodson also said he contacted Google Maps regarding the extensive truck traffic on 1200 W, and informed them that road is not a truck route. Google told him they will update their map and notify him when a change is implemented. Bits and Pieces Christopher Dee Jones, 48, passed away on August 5, 2018. Hannah Elizabeth Zuech, daughter of Cody and Jarika Zuech was born on August 17, 2018. |
