Council President Erin Holley gave a brief Christmas message in the December Pioneer Post. Breakfast with Santa was held at the City Office on Saturday, December 8, 2018. The Red Cross will host a blood drive at the City Office on December 19, 2018 from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm. Planning Commission Meeting - December 18. 2018 A Public Hearing was held on Brookside Acres Subdivision for 20 lots at approximately 2424 W 200 S. Preliminary approval was granted, subject to all requirements being completed within the time limits established by the Municipal Code. It was also mentioned that there will be some upcoming commercial developments on the east side of the City to be considered by the Planning Commission; the homeless camps are returning to the railroad property again, and Foster Bateman was introduced as our new Community Development Coordinate, replacing Elijah Brandley. Trent also updated the Commission on the Pioneer Road Project-Phase I. The 1200 West reconstruction project from Parr West to 400 North will begin in July 2019. City Council Meeting - December 20. 2018 Business Licenses for Jeremiah's Lodge & Gardens and Top Line Sales were approved. Council approved allotments for the following: Les Olsen Company [$6,500.00 for a new copier], E.K. Bailey Construction [$17,000.00 for 400 N Pedestrian Crossing] and EV8 Consulting [$5,500.00 for Agri-commerce Consulting]. Council heard from Steve Wheeler, one of the owners of some of the units at the Townhouse Estates. Mr. Wheeler's group is among other owners at that complex that are delinquent on paying their Business License for the last several years. Mr. Wheeler said they purchased some units on this property in 2017 and have evicted some of the tenants in their units that were causing problems. He said they are willing to participate in the Good Landlord program and have been trained on it. However, the HOA, which consists of 5 or 6 other owners, is a problem and his group is trying to separate their portion of the Business License from those. Because the entire Townhouse Estates is delinquent on their Business Licenses Council voted to not allow further development at the Estates until all of the Business Licenses are brought up to date. The City has an agreement with Weber County for road services such as snow plowing, pot hole repair, chip seal and sign repairs. Mayor Van Leeuwen and Mr. Morris were able to negotiate with the County to extend the agreement from 3 years to 5. Over the next 5 years the County asks that Marriott- Slaterville City create its own public works department with equipment and facilities to maintain our roads. This action resulted in the City approving Resolution 2018-N adopting an Interlocal Agreement with Weber County for various road services. |
