From the historical photos to the reclaimed wood, bricks, and doors from buildings in Park City and Marriott-Slaterville in the lobby, there's a little bit of Northern Utah everywhere you look at the Compass Rose Lodge in Huntsville. The Lodge is Huntsville Square's new boutique hotel—complete with 15 rooms, a coffee shop called First Lift Coffee and an astronomical observatory. The Hyde family, who owns the new hotel, plans to open for business on January 1, 2019. The city of Washington Terrace recently backed out of talks to unify their fire departments with South Ogden and Riverdale cities. Washington Terrace Mayor Mark Allen said that maintaining the small Washington Terrace Fire Department made the most sense for city leaders, in big part because of the higher cost of creating a three-city fire district, especially for Washington Terrace. He stated their focus right now is on improving what they have. Two consolidated fire departments now operate in the county: the Weber Fire District, serving Farr West, Hooper, Huntsville, Marriott-Slaterville, West Haven and unincorporated Weber County, and the North View Fire District, serving North Ogden, Pleasant View and Harrisville. |
