We have accomplished much this year as we work on the update to the General Plan, implement the Dark Sky Ordinance, create our historical marker program, and improve Pioneer Road to make it safer at the border of Plain City. Our City Council works hard to implement policies and programs that benefit the community. We are currently working on branding for our community as a Farm-to- Market City where grower and consumers can enjoy added relationship. In this area I enjoyed watching our Art Show, Garden Market, Pre-Black Friday Boutique provide opportunities for local crafts and produce to be markets to the community. I thank Sue Bodily for the Art Show and Cecile Morris for the Garden Market and Boutique. I am happy to see the participation from the community at all of our events. Our Youth Council is growing and learning a lot about local government. The City Council will continue to address the impacts of development as we go forward. We will work to protect our sensitive lands in the community, expand and improve our parks, create open spaces, and keep our infrastructure high quality. Our City Council works great with Mayor Van Leeuwen, and appreciates his leadership. Under his leadership we do not experience the problems you see in other cities. Marriott-Slaterville is an amazing community. The City government is financially stable and has no debt. We will continue in striving for excellence. For those young and old in the community let's work together to make friendships and enjoy the New Year.
