Show Marriott-Slaterville City History September 2018 Marriott-Slaterville Monthly History September 2018 The nights finally cooled down to a bearable temperature this month, but the days continued to be warm, dry and hot. We have had a long, hot, dry summer with several wildfires across the western part of the United States, with no measurable precipitation. Our annual Halloween Trunk-or-Treat will be held at the Slaterville Park on Wednesday, October 31^*. Set up is at 4:30 pm and treats begin at 6:00 pm. Entry is free this year. Hot dogs, chips, cookies and a drink can be had for $3.00. This event is primarily for residents and their families. The Annual George E. Wahlen Tribute Run and Chili Cook-Off will be held Saturday, October 13, 2018. This event is co-sponsored by the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home and the First United Methodist Church. This event raises funds to support the veterans residing at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home. The Youth Council hosted its Annual Chili Rest on September 21^^ from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at the City Building. This event was free. Planning Commission Meeting - September 18. 2018 Commission members discussed the new building currently being constructed by ConRock on their site located at 1900 W 1351 S. A Public Hearing was held and comments were taken from the public. A Public Hearing was held on the draft update to the Marriott-Slaterville General Plan. Comments were also received from the public. Comments will be taken for the next 45 days and referred to the General Plan consultant. City Council Meeting for September 20.2018 was cancelled Utah Search Dogs will host a Blessing of the Animals and a fund raiser silent auction, search dog demonstration and dinner at the City Building on October 6, 2018 at 4:00 pm. Dinner tickets are $5 ($8 at the door). All proceeds go to Utah Search Dogs Inc, a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to the search for missing persons. |
