Friday, June 9, 1933. We intended starting early had breakfast at a Spanish Caf and found the garage where our car was not yet opened so simply had to wait until 8 oclock to get it and in the mean time I bought a Sombrero. From here we soon took Big Oak Flat a good but very winding road but very pretty & interesting. Americano canon was very grand scenery we arrived in Yosemite Park just in time to be admited otherwise a wait of two hr. Cool and lovly delightful everywhere. We had our own lunch at the base of Yosemite falls, which are beyond my words to describe. More water than for years they fall in all 2500ft and one regrets to leave them. They are so marvelous. Spent the afternoon seeing most or all of the beauties of Yosemite Valley, Lakes, Hotels, Falls etc left about 5 oclock. Saturday, June 10, 1933. Wawona Hotel. Stayed here last nite after a delightful time in the Valley of Yosemite. Also saw the big Redwood trees Mariposa was somewhat dissapointed as so few stood out as big trees however a coach could be driven thro & under one of them etc. The Hotel had first opned and had but few guests. Rather cooler but a beautiful place around this old hotel which in its day was one of the finest. Here we must order water to wash etc. Had lunch and retired having had one of the most enjoyable days in our lives. Nature so wonderful everywhere we have been.
