Saturday, August 26, 1933. Kansas 8 A.M. leave 815 P.M. via of CB 80. Breakfast on diner. Arrived at Kansas City 800 A.M. Depart from depot on 150 mi Automobile Trip thro and around historical Independence Visited graves of Sidney Rigdon & Peter Whitmer also L.D.S. mission church where Bro & Sister Bunnion served us a lovly lunch and entertained us royaly. We visited the Temple lot which at present is being excivated by the Reorganized L.D.S. people. We also visited the home of the Prophet Joseph Smiths grand son which is also their church and saw some interesting relics namely the old corner stone of Temple. Visited Liberty Jail in Joseph Smith the Prophet was imprisoned for his religion. Sunday, August 27, 1933. A most interesting day. Cannot describe my feelings. Depart at 8P.M. from Montrase. Arrive at Montrase Iowa 630 A.M. Breakfast in Diner our first glimpse of the Great Father of Waters very impressive as it was here where our Saints were driven across on the ice in Feb. of 1839 from Nauvoo, Ill. 20000 were driven out by mobs and their first nite camping on the river nine babies were born. Ferry across Mississippi river to Nauvoo. Truly a beautiful spot. We saw many of the old homes of our people still standing and occupied. The homes of Heber C. Kimball, Parley & Orson Pratt, Brigham Young, Bishop E Hunter, John Taylor, Taylor Peerys great grandfather, Jonathen Brownin (Blanch R Richs grandfather, The Prophet Joseph Smiths mansion house, also his familys home, their graves, Relief Society monument etc a trip to Carthage where Jos & Hyrum were killed.
