THE OGDEN STAN REPORT ISSUED Nearly Thousand Garments Made From Red Cross MaterialWomens Make work committee of Weber county community relief met at the Keisel avenue headquarters on Monday and received the following report for the month of February : Received from American Red Cross for distribution in February: 216 childrens waist suits; 312 pairs overalls; 60 mens jumpers; 1141 pairs of hose, mens and boys; 24 play suits; 36 infants shirts; 432 mens union suits; 144 boys union suits; 96 ladies union suits; 396 ladies bloomers; 756 pair of ladies hose; 108 pair of infants hose. MADE IN WORK ROOM Garments made in the work room included: 930 new garments from material furnished by American Red Cross, consisting of ladies dresses, sleepers, pajamas, mens shirts, boys shirts and infants layettes; 70 new garments were made from discarded clothing; 27 garments, consisting of night gowns for men, women and children, sheets and pillow cases to be placed in emergency chest for Red Cross in city hall; 38 quilts were made from discarded clothing pieced on both sides and filled with clippings of worn out sweaters or cotton batts; 62 garments were mended; 2 mattresses were made from clippings. RED CROSS ARTICLES Distribution of Red Cross articles in February are as follows: army breeches 233, woolen sox 593, shirts 189, drawers 189, helmets 226, over coats 56, mens pants 7, unions 316, sweaters 751, hose 136, overalls 259, jumpers 31, shirts 2, cotton socks 277, boys unions 200, sweaters 108, shirts 71, hose 38, overalls 57, cords 3, ladies unions 81, sweaters 136, bloomers 244, dresses 423, night gowns 24, hose 371, girls: waist unions 365, sweaters 33, bloomers 49, dresses 228, pajamas 21, hose 230, petticoats 2; infant: diapers 246, hose 103, jackets 25, nightgowns 46, binders 9, gertrudes 25, shirts 40; misc: pillow cases 10, sheets 14, playsuits 23, quilts 4, mattresses 1, sleepers 16; total articles issued 6,811. Families assisted during February number 3,343. YARDAGE MATERIAL Distribution of yardage material in February by American National Red Cross Weber county chapter includes: Gingham, 258 percent yards; prints, 40 one eighth yards; outing, 23 yards; sheeting, 9 yards; shirting 17 yards; total 347 percent yards. LUNCHEON SERVED Luncheon was served each day by volunteer womens social clubs as follows: 355 meals; 231 volunteer hours for luncheon committee; 97 days were given by the hostesses and their assistants. |
