This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Recd letters from Avon with a long descriptive letter from Ralph W Hardy telling of his trip to South America very interesting Our son Col. Thair C Rich called me on the Telephone this p.m. So pleased to hear his voice. He said his wife would have her hip operated on in Philadelphia Jany 7th No one has called today I fixed book Myrenes biography to mail to Avon Tuesday, January 4, 1955 Snowed a little off and on all day. Ralph Flygare called He looks old and Cleone and Oertel called I have read Mothers (Myras) biography most of day Red letter from Reid Ellison and Arvin. Ellison Mill Co made me Honorary Director for life and relieved me from active director. Mary Jacobs Reels Bro. Amasus Widow very sick at Paris Death Claims Paris LDS Worker, 95 Special to The Tribune MONTPELIER, IDAHO Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Rich, 95, a lifelong resident of Paris, Idaho, died Thursday in a Montpelier hospital of causes incident to age. She was born Jan. 3, 1860, at Grantsville, Utah, a daughter of Daniel and Mary Hainis Jacobs. When she was 4 years of age, her parents moved from Grantsville to St. Charles, Idaho. She was married to Amasa Mason Rich Sept. 29, 1880, in the old LDS Endowment House in Salt Lake City, and they made their home at Paris. She taught school in Bern, 1887 and 1888, while her husband filled a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. She was the mother of seven sons and daughters, four of whom survive Daniel L. Rich and Dr. Spencer H. Rich of Paris; Dr. Charles ONeal Rich of Salt Lake City and Dr. Reed J. Rich of Montpelier. Funeral services will be held in the Paris First Ward LDS Chapel Monday at 1 p.m. Friends may call at the Daniel C. Rich home in Paris Sunday afternoon and Monday morning until time of service. Burial will be in Paris Cemetery under the direction of Matthews Mortuary. |
