Thursday, December 29, 1955 Beautiful day clear as crystal and not cold I have been home all day except for brief trpi to Bank and drugstore Oertel is gradually failing Does not recognize any one and swallows only few sips of fluid. Terrible to see her day after day so low though she is not suffering pain thank goodness. Cleone dear girl called and took me down town. A trying time for me Friday, December 30, 1955 Very nice day. Atmosphere clear and little crisp. I have been home all day. A short walk with Cleone Cleone was here to lunch and helped Cliar and clean up refrigerator dear girl. Dr Jr and Blanche called this evening. Oertel has slept practically all day, but has aroused a little this evening and has taken a little nourishment. I wrote cards to Thair, Avon and Mary. A trying day to see dear Oertel in her sad condition. Saturday, December 31, 1955 a beautiful day, but a sad one for us because of the serious condition of our dear daughter Oertel who is near death suffering from a brain tumor I have been home all day except for a very brief visit to Dr Lynn Crookston the Dentist I have been home alone practically all the eveng. The nurse went home until 9 p.m. Cleone called earlier in the eveng dear girl she is upset because of Oertels condition. Myrene called in afternoon. Avon our daughter Mrs JH Smart called me over phone from Los Angeles and Janath Cannon called from Salt Lake and President Ernest Wilkinson called from Provo Utah. A sad New Years eve for all of us.
