Show FIGHTER OF YEAR Rocky Marciano Tops Big Field By JACK CUDDY NEW YORK (UP) Rocky Marciano was named Fighter of the Year today by the Ring magazine. It was the third time the unbeaten heavyweight champion from Brockton, Mass. had won the award. He received it last year and in 1952. Carl (Bobo) Olson interrupted in 53. Only Joe Louis now leads Rocky as a winner of the coveted plaque. Bomber Joe took it four times in 1936, 38, 39 and 41. Announcing Marcianos selection in the magazines year end review, Editor Nat Fleischer stressed that the champions two significant title defenses and his exemplary private life had earned the prize.
