Ogden LDS Delay Dedication Of Tabernacle, Plan Tours Salt Lake Tribune July 24th 1955 Special to The Tribune OGDEN Dedication of the new Ogden Tabernacle of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints will be delayed until the entire cost of the 700,000 structure has been paid, officials announced Saturday. In place of the dedication, the building will be opened Sunday to three inspection periods at 5, 7 and 9 p.m. Representatives of the 11 LDS stake authorities of the Ogden area will conduct inspection tours. Failure of the stakes to raise the additional 95,000 deficit by Sunday prompted the postponement, the officials said. Attendance of David O. McKay, LDS president and a Weber County native, also is desired for the dedication. Recitals will be given on the new organ, said to be second only to the Salt Lake Tabernacle organ. Wayne Devereaux will be at the console. The new tabernacle has a seating capacity of 2,500. Modern opera chairs throughout make seating comfortable at all times.
