This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show Sunday, August 7, 1955 Rained today quite hard attended Sunday School and eveng sacrament meeting LeMar Buckner spoke in Sacrament meeting very good. He is past president of National Tumor Canaveral Society He made good talk. In last year he has visited every state in the Union and 16 foreign countries and traveled around the World. Heber & Lucile called and we visited Cemetery and took flowers for Myras grave I went down to Cleones and saw Cliff & Myrelle & children & Justin & Shauna Ralph W Hardy of Wash D.C. telephoned from Evanston Wy they would be here in a coupld of hours. Have driven from Wash D.C. in 3 days Monday, August 8, 1955 Nice day. I visited Ralph W Hardy and Family at Cleones this morng and they are all fine They drove from Wash D.C. in 3 days Cliff and Myrelle & Children are also at Cleones. All dear, children all so well and dear. This eveng they all came up and visited us Recd letters from Mary Peery saying she would be here Aug 16th with David her son just home from Service in US army in far East. Ezra Paulsen called today Max cut lawn etc. Lyman Rich called and brought some Family papers Oertel is better Brigham J. Barnes OGDEN Brigham James Barnes, 67, 2635 Taylor Ave., died Tuesday of a heart attack at Green River, Wyo. He was a conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad Co. Born Nov. 8, 1887, Logan, son of Brigham and Mary Ann Brown Barnes. Reared and educated in Evanston. Wyo. Married Elizabeth Pearl Cunningham on Aug. 23, 1907, in Salt Lake City. Member of Methodist Church. Surviving are widow, Ogden; a son and two daughters, Mrs. Jack Williamson, Mrs. Frank Parks, Ogden; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, 10 brothers and a sister. Masonic funeral services Friday 2 p.m. in Ogden First Methodist Church. Friends call at family home Thursday 6 9 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial in Aultorest Memorial Park by Aultorest Mortuary. Wednesday, August 10, 1955 Salt Lake Tabernacle Choir left Salt Lake City at 830 this eveng for extension trip to the East US and Europe. About 370 Choir members and friends to make up party of 604. To sections of US and sail from Montrial Aug 13 on S.S. Saronia Wonderful trip and will do much good They will sing at dedication of Swiss Temple Wonderful mission. Will do much good We all went down to the Ogden depot to see them off. Ted Cannon and his wife Janath Russell Cannon (Oertels daughter with Janath is member of the Choir. Oertel is much better and went to depot to see them off |
