Course content encompasses the study of biological, cognitive, social, and emotional developmental changes of the healthy individual in the context of the family and society. The Child from Six to Twelve (3) Focuses on the developmental characteristics, processes, and events that influence the growth of the child from six to twelve years. Introduction to Early Childhood Education (3) An overview of the historical roots of early childhood education; theoretical approaches, developmentally appropriate practice, types and efficacy of early childhood programs; and political issues and ethical conduct within the early childhood profession. Guidance Based on Developmental Theory (3) The development of a philosophy and a plan of action for guiding the child based on theories of development.
