Students should apply by certain deadlines for their student teaching assignments by contacting the Teacher Education Department. Two student teaching tracks are available for English teaching majors: on site and traditional. The on-site program is strongly recommended. Students should select a track in consultation with a departmental advisor. Weber State University On-site Student Teaching: Student teaching takes place during one semester. In the mornings, students teach under the direction of a public school master teacher. In the afternoons, they attend university courses taught on site where they are student teaching. On-site courses include English methods courses and certain Education courses. Before student teaching, students should have completed other designated Education courses and at least 27 credit hours from required English courses, which must include courses in critical approaches, advanced writing, language and young adult literature. Traditional Student Teaching: Student teaching takes place during a single semester. Before student teaching, students should have completed all required Education courses and at least 27 credit hours from required English courses.
