The Mission of Continuing Education Continuing education serves the mission of Weber State University through learning partnerships with the institution's non- traditional constituencies. The continuing education network of collaborative working relationships reaches pre-college students; working, re-entry and older adult learners; business and industry; governmental agencies; non-profit groups; public education organizations, and professional associations. Continuing education primarily addresses regional needs, but also expands Weber State University's influence by matching university and community resources with the needs of national and global partners. Continuing education develops quality learning experiences in a deliberately inclusive environment to help every participant achieve full potential. These learning experiences range from academic degree programs and courses delivered in cooperation with the university's academic departments to customized noncredit courses that draw on community resources. Continuing education's role is to facilitate delivery of learning experiences in a variety of alternative formats, at convenient times and places, with appropriate student support services that meet the needs of its diverse clientele. These learning partnerships involve special day, evening and weekend offerings — available on and off the campus — in formats for classroom, laboratory, workplace practicum, electronic delivery or independent learning. Continuing education staff improves the quality of continuing education offerings and services through annual appraisal cycles, employing needs assessment, student/customer feedback, staff performance ratings and program outcomes.
