In addition, HPHP offers undergraduate and graduate programs for the Department of Teacher Education and the Master's of Education Program as well as supports Weber State University and community wellness related activities. Students interested in professional career preparation may emphasize in: athletics, physical education, recreation, health promotion, coaching and lifestyle management. In addition, special preparation may be obtained by designing a general studies (B.I.S.) program. MISSION STATEMENT The Department of Health Promotion and Human Performance supports and enhances the mission of the University by promoting and integrating into the University experience the applied sciences of exercise, physical education, sport, health, and nutrition through effective and impactful instruction, scholarship and service. This may be accomplished by preparing individuals to maintain, enhance, and manage human performance and quality of life among those clients seeking professional preparation or personal service through our program. ATHLETIC TRAINING MAJOR BACHELOR DEGREE (B.S.) » Program Prerequisite: Students must comply with the university General Education requirements. » Minor: Required. » Grade Requirements: A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher in all courses required for this major. » Credit Hour Requirements: A total of 120 credit hours is required for graduation - 46 of these are required within the major. A total of 40 upper division credit hours is required (courses numbered 3000 and above) - 36 of these are required within the major. Admission Requirements Declare a major (see Program of Study on page 18 of this catalog). There are specific admission and application requirements for the Athletic Training major. Degree awarded is Health Services Administration with emphasis in Health Promotion. » Program Prerequisite: Acceptance into the program (see Admission Requirements below). » Minor: Not Required. » Grade Requirement: A grade of "C" or better in courses required for this major (a grade of "C-" is not acceptable), in addition to a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50. » Credit Hour Requirements: A total of 120 credit hours is required for graduation — 53-56 of these are required within the major. A total of 40 upper division credit hours is required (courses number 3000 and above) — a minimum of 37 of these is required within the major.
