Show Visual Arts Photography General Information Art Teaching Emphasis: Option 1 (24 credit hours): Art 231 <3), 243 (3) 335 or 235 (3), 351 (3), 354 or 254 (3X 370 or 270 (3); one of the following: Art 322 or 222 (3), 323 or 223 (3), 324 or 224 (3); one of the Mowing: 360 or 260 (3), 365 or 265 (3). The following specifics also apply: This is a composite art teaching major. The student must have an emphasis in two of the following areas: ceramics, drawing, graphic design, illustration, jewelry, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, weaving. PROGRAM: ART COMPOSTTE TEACHING MAJOR-BACHELOR DEGREE - (See program requirements in the Composite Teaching Majors section of the School of Education.) PROGRAM: ART DEPARTMENTAL HONORS General Requirements: • Enroll in the General Honors Program and complete at least 10 hours of General Honors courses (see the mterdisciplinary Programs section of the catalog). Specific Requirements: • In fulfilling requirements for an Art major, the honor student must take at least twenty hours of Art courses for honors credit with a minimum of two hours in Art 491 taken as an Honors Senior Project. • The Art Major with a General Art, Art Teaching, Photography, Two Dimensional, Three Dimensional Visual Communications/ Design or Visual Communication/Illustration Emphasis may take any appropriate upper division art or photography course on an honors basis upon departmental and instructor approval. Permission from the department chair should be sought before registering in a course for Honors credit. A written agreement should be obtained from the professor in whose course Honors credit is to be sought. (See the Interdisciplinary Programs section of the catalog.) PROGRAM: COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY-ASSOCIATE APPUED SCIENCE DEGREE OF The program leading to the associate of apphed science degree in Commercial Photography covers the fundamentals of commercial photography and prepares the student for entry level employment in many areas, including architectural, advertising, illustration and portrait photography. Course material addresses the theory, apphcation and aesthetics of the photographic arts as they apply to commercial uses of photography. Graduates of the program culminating in the associate of apphed science degree may enter directly into a 4-year program in Art with a Photography Emphasis should they decide to pursue a program leading to the bachelor's degree. General Requirements: • A minimum of 97 credit hours. • 67 credit hours in major field. • Engl 101 (3X Busadm 101 (4X Commun 385 (3). • Art HU203 (3), Commun HU105 (3X CIS PD170 (4) or Comsci PD101 (4), plus 10 additional credit hours fiom General Education courses listed in catalog including at least one course in Natural Science (MS) and one in Social Science (SS). • Must have C or better in major courses. • An overall GPA of 2.00 or C is required. PROGRAM: VOCATIONAL VISUAL COMMUNICATIONS/DESIGN ASSOCIATE OF APPUED SCIENCE DEGREE The program leading to the associate of apphed science degree in Visual Communications/Design covers the fundamentals of graphic design and prepares the student for entry level employment in advertising, publishing and communication fields. The course material in this program addresses the role of typography and illustration as tools for creative communication, layout and trademark design. Graduates of the program culminating in the Associate of Apphed Science degree may enter directly into a 4-year program in Art with a Visual Communications/ Design Emphasis should they decide to pursue a program leading to the bachelor's degree.
