PROGRAM: EARTH SCIENCE COMPOSITE TEACHING MAJOR BACHELOR DEGREE General Requirements: • Specific College Requirements (see index). • Requirements for General Education (see index). • A minor is not required. • Must achieve a C- or better in major courses. • Must achieve an overall 2.75 GPA. • 183 total hours are required for this degree. Sixty of the 183 total hours must be upper division (courses numbered 300 and above). • Students obtaining an Earth Science Composite Teaching Major must satisfy the School of Education Certification Program. The courses must include the following: Educ 195 (1), 300 (2X 350 (5), 363 (3), 364 (1), 462 (4), 495 (15), 499 (3). PROGRAM: COMPOSITE MUSIC EDUCATION TEACHING MAJOR BACHELOR DEGREE General Requirements: • Specific College Requirements (see index). • Requirements for General Education (see index). • Psych SS101 (5) in the social science area is recommended for music education teaching majors. • A minor is not required of the music education major. • Music education teaching majors must have a 2.75 or better in majors courses and achieve an overall GPA of 2.75 or better. • 183 total hours are required for a single emphasis major (choral or instrumental) in music education. • 194 total hours are required for a dual emphasis major (choral/ instrumental or instrumental/choral) in music education. Sixty of the total required hours for a major must be upper division (courses numbered 300 and above). • Students obtaining a music education teaching major must satisfy the School of Education Certification Program (see the teacher education program). PROGRAM: PHYSICAL SCIENCE MATHEMATICS/COMPUTER SCIENCE COMPOSITE TEACHING MAJOR BACHELOR DEGREE General Requirements: • Specific College Requirements (see index). • Requirements for General Education (see index). • Psych SS101 (5) in the Social Science area is recommended for Physical Science/Mathematics/Computer Science Composite Teaching majors. • A minor is not required. • Physical Science/Mathematics/Computer Science Composite Teaching majors must have a C- or better in major courses. • An overall GPA of 275. • 183 total hours are required for this degree. Sixty of the 183 total hours must be upper division (courses numbered 300 and above). • Students obtaining one of the Physical Science/Mathematics/Computer Science Composite Teaching majors must satisfy the School of Education Certification Program (see Secondary Education Program). These courses must include the Mowing: Educ 195 (1), 300 (3), 350 (3), 363 (3), 462 (3), 364 (4), 495 (15), 499 (3). Specific Requirements: Students must choose either Option I or Option II. Option I - Physical Science and Mathematics: • Courses required in three of the four areas: Chemistry, Geology and Geography, Mathematics, and Physics. At least 27 hours of specific courses must be taken in one area and at least 20 hours in each of the other two areas selected. Option II - Mathematics and Computer Science: • Courses are required in three areas. Social Science Composite Teaching majors must have a C or better in major courses. Must achieve an overall 275 GPA 183 total hours are required for this degree. Specific Requirements: • The Social Science Composite Teaching major consists of an academic major in one of the following three areas: Geography, History, Political Science (see index for program). • As well as the above major, a total of 45 credit hours in three of the academic disciplines listed in areas 1 and 2 below. At least one of the three concentrations must be from those listed in area 1 and different from the area chosen as a major. A minimum of fourteen credit hours approved by the Social Science Composite Teaching major advisor must be completed in each of the three areas of concentration.
